I often experience getting tired of cleaning some area of the house day after day. Sometimes it took me whole day to clean that area over and over but it gives me with minimal satisfaction. The sad reality is that after cleaning one area, the next day its’ dirty again! Isn’t this draining and tiresome?
If you are encountering the same scenario, I can offer you some tips that I managed to discover that saved me from non-stop cleaning our house. Here are some short and useful tips that will help you achieve an organized household cleaning which will make your job easier and more efficient.
1. House cleaning schedule – Before, as I clean our house, I was not very organized. The cleaning was not consistent and I find myself trying to clean the entire house for a whole day. This often makes me not only tired, but also drained. This gives me an idea that I must have a house cleaning schedule. It is really exhausting to clean the entire house in just one day. Assign each day for specific room you want to clean and to a certain cleaning activity you want to do on that moment. You may clean the bathrooms during Mondays, bedrooms on Tuesday, the living room on Wednesday and kitchen on Thursday. You may keep your Friday and Saturday open for your leisure time and you can have your laundry during Sundays. For best results, you can design your schedule in such a way that it would work for you and your household situation. In other words, make that schedule fit for you and at your convenience.
2. House cleaning checklist – Based on your cleaning schedule, make a checklist of all the things to be done on the scheduled room you are cleaning. Set up goals for you to keep a constant focus and get what you want to get done without becoming distracted. Check your goals every time you finish certain task or area. The checklist will also serve as your visual guide on how far your cleaning is.
3. Eliminate Distractions – When it is time to clean, you have to clean and avoid destructions. Thus, with less distraction the sooner your cleaning job will be done. Therefore, turn off you cell phones and turn down home phones. Avoid outside disturbances to your cleaning duties. Switch off the television, computer or any form of distractions. For sure, cleaning the house is something you would rather get done immediately.
4. Scan all areas of the house – Before you start your cleaning duties, check all the areas of your household that need most of the cleaning. To be efficient, start cleaning the areas that require most attention and efforts and working towards the ones that need the least cleaning.
5. Organize Cleaning supplies – For easy accessibility, I put all my needed cleaning materials for the day in a carry-all-bin. Aside for being organized, this practice saves me a lot of my time and energy in running back and forth looking for the proper supplies I need.
6. Ask for Help – We usually ignore the idea of asking help from other people or a cleaning service provider when cleaning the house. Bear in mind that it is not bad to ask for help.
7. Listen to your favorite Music – Listening to music is a great help. It would be a wonderful source of inspiration especially if you are doing things that you do not enjoy. I assure you how well this works and how fast it makes the time goes by. Certainly, you will not notice the time goes by while listening and enjoying the music and at the same time doing your cleaning activities. Play your favourite tune with your CD player or MP3 or stereo system. You can dance while sweeping or vacuuming, sing while scrubbing. Release the inner child in you and pour out all your stress and energy to your cleaning activities. You can be groovy while cleaning your house and if somebody like member of the household is looking at you strangely, let them! Anyway, they are not the ones cleaning nor are they “in the groove”.
8. De-Clutter your Space – Real and effective cleaning begins after all the spaces are thoroughly cleaned of excess clutter, which is one of the most difficult tasks to accomplish. Therefore, I highly recommend in putting things back when you are done using it. This very simple and practical tip would save you a lot of time in placing back things in their proper places where they belong.
9. Alternative Cleaning Methods – Many of the chemical cleaning supplies purchased in stores can be hazardous to your health. Try using alternative cleaning supplies and there are some household items that you can use as replacements. Cut down toxic and hazardous materials by using these alternative and natural cleaning supplies found in your household items that you regularly use. You will be surprised that aside from avoiding toxic chemicals, these household items also give comparable results just like the standard commercial cleaners.
10. Cleaner Floors – Most of the dirt accumulated in our house are actually on our floor especially if it is carpeted. It is loaded with the dirt coming from the soles of your shoes. To avoid this and to cut down the frequency of vacuuming, you may place a “no shoes” on carpet rule. The same is true with harder surfaces like laminates, wood flooring and tile. By always remembering to take off our shoes, it will help us keep our delicate floor surfaces be protected from dirt, scratches, spots, and stains.
With this household cleaning list, it would give you more effective and efficient house cleaning. This would also be a great help for you to have a more organized look at house cleaning. Always remember these tips for you to make your work easier and stress free.
