Aside from household cleaning products you will need to invest in cleaning equipment when you put up a Cleaning Service business. Although this equipment may entail some money cash out these are essential for making your tasks easier and more efficient.

Brooms, mops, rags, window cleaners, feather dusters and rubber hoses are some simple tools you will definitely need in your cleaning service business. These items are cheap, easily bought in a hardware store and are the basic necessities of your business. If you want to expand your business a little more invest in floor polishers, vacuum cleaners and extension cords. This equipment you will find in most appliance stores and hardware stores. You can also go online and search for these items. There are a lot of models and brands that you can choose from. Select a decent brand within your budget. Ask for a demonstration from the salesman on how this piece of equipment works just to check if it performs at par to your standards. Always remember to ask for a warranty on its parts and service just in case it breaks down. Most importantly ask for discounts if you are purchasing on cash. If you are planning to buy on installment, request for affordable payment terms.

Before you actually start with any type of business, there are several things you need to work on. You have to primarily know what type of business you would want to focus on and actually focus on that type of business alone. Your focus is very much necessary when you decide to set up a business because it will be unwise to just start a business you cannot give potential to expand and grow eventually. One business that you can consider is a cleaning service business.

Cleaning services are deemed important and very much useful nowadays not only to households but also to businesses and other corporations. There are three types of cleaning services and it is important for you to know which yours will focus on and which you might want to combine.

The most basic type of cleaning service is the residential cleaning service. Of course you have a home and you try your best to keep it clean and orderly at all times and you have set your own standards of what and how a good and clean home actually looks like. Therefore, starting with a residential cleaning service is as easy as keeping in mind the perfect image of your own home.

Basic equipments and machines are required to operate a residential cleaning service. This is easy because most of the equipments, machines and cleaning tools you would need are exactly like the ones that you usually use to tidy up your home. You probably know which brands work best and which brands could give your home a crystal clear and squeaky clean look and feel.

Before you actually forget, you have to remember that the people you will hire to clean the house, if you intend to just manage your cleaning service should be properly trained. They have to know how to actually clean and keep a house neat and clean regardless of its size and requirements.

You might even want to provide uniforms for your cleaners to make them look like real professionals in the cleaning field. They should also be well oriented that cleaning is never an easy job but the challenge is for them to always have a positive aura towards your clients.

The second type of cleaning service is the one that focuses only on carpets. Carpet cleaning service could be very demanding that is why you need a special service solely intended for this type. Carpets that are cleaned are usually very huge and thick plus carpets are also dust-prone making it harder to clean altogether.

The third type of cleaning service is the commercial cleaning service. This type of cleaning service is expensive and the most time consuming. This entails cleaning a whole office from the comfort rooms and pantry to the ceilings and the walls and therefore requires greater manpower.

Several guidelines are also necessary if you are to focus on this type of cleaning service. Of course you will be needing more people to work on the cleaning and you would need to provide licenses, insurances, and waiver to the companies that will hire your services.

The cleaning service industry is one of the areas in business that has kept on expanding over the recent years. Suffice to say that more and more companies are realizing the convenience and simplicity outsourced cleaning crews offer. From the littlest details involved in dusting furniture, to the more tedious work of cleaning carpets and upholstery, a commercial janitorial service is truly beneficial.

It is no surprise that you would want to create a cleaning service of your own. There are few other businesses that can compare to the ease of establishing your janitorial service. Nevertheless, just like any other foray into the service industry, you will need to think of ways to create an image for your cleaning business that differentiates it from all the other competitors.

One way to do this is to set up an unforgettable image and reputation for your cleaning business. Your start up company would definitely have a difficult time competing with older and more well-known janitorial services around. However, what you lack in years could be regarded as strength if you focus on what can revolutionize the cleaning industry. Instead of focusing on the reasons why you can give the same quality of service as the older cleaning companies, look for a way to make your cleaning business different. If you research on the cleaning companies in your locality, you are likely to find an area that you can improve on, either technology-wise or service-wise.

Since your business is in the industry of providing service to your clients, you should keep some traditional practices such as excellent customer service. It would be even better if you could improve on it. Instead of the usual customer-initiated feedback for instance, you can keep your customers happier by providing a more regular avenue for assessments and recommendations. You can schedule monthly meetings with your client to ensure that everything is running smoothly.

Have all your cleaning staff train or learn the proper way to handle and talk to clients. One of the easiest ways to lose regulars and potential customers is by having a rude or offensive cleaner.

Make sure that the equipment and tools, and even the cleaning solutions that you use are up to date and well-maintained. Companies everywhere do like a show of expertise in any area that involves their spaces; and a run-down, outdated vacuum could cost you one customer less.

Highlight facts that could put your company and your crew in a good light. One time training for the different areas of cleaning may be a huge come-on to potential customers. Additionally, you can create more confidence in your clients if you have re-training seminars and conferences for all your staff. Treat cleaning as a profession, and know that every profession is a continuous learning process. Skills are learned and improved through both theories and practice. Besides, with the many new things that one can learn about cleaning spaces, you can be assured that not one of you and your cleaning crew can say that you know everything there is to know about cleaning.

The cleaning industry is a growing business and it is not just because people are too lazy to clean up their own spaces, or that they can afford to pay others to do household chores. The cleaning service industry is boosted by a lot of other factors such as companies turning to outsourcing janitorial services to lower business expenditures, and households gearing towards double income status more and more each day.

For the typical home, gone are the days when the wife gets to stay home and take care of the household while the husband earns money. Because of the current economic changes, the society’s empowerment of women, and the high divorce rates, maid services have bloomed in each and every city and town. Nobody has time for cleaning! People have to drive to work, finish deadlines and stay up late, take care of finances; and all of these things add up to pure exhaustion. No one wants to have to worry about cleaning up when all they want to do is to put up their feet and doze off in front of the TV. Even young professionals have a need for day maids since young adults now move out of their parents’ house as soon as they can afford to rent out a place of their own. These young workers might need to have a part time job aside from their regular job, or to put in more hours so they can climb up the corporate ladder. They would not have time to worry about dusting, and mopping, and vacuuming; they just would not have
the energy to!

Parents with young kids also have a need for a cleaning service. Even if the mom or the dad stays home to look after the children, a lot of extra help would be needed for them to be able to keep a tidy house. Just imagine having to take care of a baby, a toddler, and a pre-schooler all at the same time. Even if the kids go off to day care everyday, the mess they leave behind, and the mess that they will create as soon as they get home is really something to contend with. To add to that, the parent would need to cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, and school snacks, drive the kids to and from daycare, and so on and so forth. If they have to clean their homes too, then their days will never end!

If you think that you have a knack for cleaning and supervising it, then building a cleaning service business may be right for you. There are men and women out there who get a kick out of de-cluttering people’s spaces and you may be one of them. You can opt to have a janitorial service and choose clients in the corporate world, or you can choose to start a maid service, focusing primarily on cleaning houses. Both of these types of cleaning service are fulfilling financially.

When you are in the business of providing service, there is nothing in the world that can stop your customers from reporting complaints. They will find every excuse to give you a negative feedback as soon as the cleaning job is over; sometimes, up to even after a few days. The way you handle customer complaints will measure how good your people skills are.

Complaints will be about everything that is involved in the cleaning process; from your cleaning staff’s appearance, to the equipment and cleaning solutions your cleaning service uses. Typically, you will be giving out feedback forms for the customer to fill out but your clients also have the option to call you up and raise their concerns to you personally.

1. Always handle complaints as soon as you receive them. If it is in written form, then you should contact the complainant immediately and state that you have received their input. If the comment does not require immediate attention such as advice on the cleaning solution you should use next time, then just say that you will look into the possibility and get back to them as soon as possible.

2. Always keep the proper decorum when talking to clients even if you think that the complaints are unfounded. There is nothing wrong with hearing your customers out, especially if their sole purpose is just to vent out their feelings. Some customers are more difficult to handle as they may have a different style in cleaning their spaces. All you have to do is to tailor your cleaning service to their requirements.

3. Never lose your temper when talking to a difficult client. You are in the service industry and your aim is to please your client so that they stay in contract with you. There may be times that your customer may be hearing you but is not actually listening to what you say. Their objective at this point is to put across their concern. It would be best to wait until the customer is done talking and then follow up with a query on how he thinks the situation could be rectified. Afterwards, consider his suggestion and then give your own. Make sure that the solution you give incorporates all or a part of the customer’s recommendation.

4. If the complaint is about the cleaning you have done, including damages to property, you need to talk to your staff immediately and clear up what had happened before setting up a meeting with the client. Make sure that your insurance and bond are in order so that you can quickly settle the issue.

5. When a client criticizes one of your staff, maybe on their uniform or not wearing one, or general attitude toward work, talk to the client immediately and ask what exactly happened. If the complain is valid, then you should talk to your employee regarding the matter. To make sure that you do not suffer from any liabilities in case you decide to fire out the employee later on, then you should issue him a memorandum. However, if you find that the client just has some misgivings about your cleaning crew member and you cannot pinpoint the real reason, what you can do is to find a replacement for that crew member and send the other to a different cleaning gig.

The home is one of the most important places we all need to have. Once we become homeowners, we try to make it a pint to keep this private space as clean and as de-cluttered as possible. This is why there is a big market for maid services especially nowadays that more and more couples decide to both handle jobs that keep them away from their houses most of the time. If you are thinking of starting up your own maid service or are already operating one, then you must have realized how important cleaning the toilet and bathroom is to your customers. Impress your clients even more with the following tips on cleaning the bathroom perfectly.

The bathroom is a one of the areas in the home that generally gets dirty as soon as the next person enters it. With all the soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and other materials we use inside, it is inevitable that different types of dirt materialize in a matter of minutes after having it cleaned. As a cleaning service provider, it is your job to get rid of all these knowledgeably. The bathroom, because of the consistent state of wetness it is in, is prone to all sorts of bacteria.

So how do you clean the bathroom efficiently?

1. Start from the most detailed parts and graduate to the tile walls and floors. This way, you wouldn’t have to repeat cleaning and scrubbing the walls and floors.

2. Soap scum can be brushed off soap holder. Be careful not to slip on tiny bits of soap that fall to the floor.

3. Lime or hard water mineral build up in the sinks and the sides of the drain can be cleaned by an acid such as vinegar or lemon juice. Do not let stay for a long time on porcelain enamel as the acid in these ingredients could cause damage to the surface. Always rinse thoroughly after. If you are cleaning fiberglass, ask your client what she prefers to use as a cleaning solution. Acids cannot be used for this type of material but there are commercial products that are safe. Read the labels carefully.

4. If you notice that the client’s bathroom plumbing have problems, suggest to the client that he get it fixed immediately. Continuously dripping water will just stain the sink and the tiles again.

5. Baking soda in warm water is an effective agent in removing soap scum from from any area of the bathroom.

6. Be very careful in using abrasive cleaning tools since most of the materials found inside a bathroom are easily scratched. Better yet, do not bring in anything abrasive into the bathroom. Soft brushes and sponges will often do the trick.

7. Scouring powders which are used for all purpose cleaning can cause scratches to the tiles and the sinks, avoid using these cleaning agents.

8. Do not neglect faucets. Spots on the chrome finish can easily be removed by washing it with soap and water. Brush under the edges of the faucet and dry off the whole tap with a kitchen paper towel to restore its sparkle.

If you are already planning to have the service of cleaning as your business, it is a must that you know something or you should be familiarize with the field before you start up cleaning business.

The industry where it belongs has two principal groups of market and that is the residential and commercial arena. Residential arena or the one being generally addressed as the consumer arena is focused on services like maid services, window cleaning, or even carpet cleaning. Specifically with this arena, services do not require entrepreneurs to have their time greatly fixed on work. On commercial arena, on the other face, it requires more time than the other because of the wider range that it covers. They are the ones that target businesses and not those individual consumers.

The business itself, though technology is on the lead, is not considered to be one of the high-tech profitable things in the world of business. That is why there would be times you will find yourself using the manual method of cleaning. But though it is possible for that to happen, upside of that is an extreme generation of revenue with just a minimum cost of beginning inventory and at the same time enjoying your own style on how you will render your services to your market.

Though this kind of business activity is such a simple one, there is something a person must have to be able to attain the goal of profitability. Those are dedication to the beauty of cleanliness and perseverance that is embraced with the preciousness of honesty in every work that is rendered.

So you’ve gotten your business off the ground and opened your cleaning service doors. Congratulations! The hurdles that you’ve been through and the challenges you’ve gone through must have been quite a ride. Now you have customers and regulars. You’ve met new people and quite possibly have been thinking of expanding.

A business always has three types of customers: steady, loyal customers that are known as regulars, walk-ins or people you service once or twice and what I like to call fly by nights. The out of towners or tourists who hire your business for the duration of their stay. As a business owner, you are always trying to look for new customers without losing your regulars. The goal of your business is to turn your walk-ins into regulars. But how do you do that?

The first and foremost criteria that you must have are excellent service. As a homeowner, I would never hesitate to call someone who I think has done a great job. Even a more expensive service? Why? Because I know I will get my money’s worth. So do a great job and they will see it. Do a great job with any type of customers and you’ll get what is called the end all of advertising, the stuff you can’t pay for: a good recommendation. Clients will talk and you better be sure they give you glowing praise. This is one way to attract new customers. People tend to follow the advice of friends more when it comes to things like these.

Of course you can’t always rely on word of mouth. What if business has been steady and you’ve been thinking of expanding? Then what? How do you attract and build new customers then? This is where the good old promotions/discount duo comes in. This is one way to attract new customers. Think of a good promotion that you can use for your business. Say, if you sign up today you get the 10th cleaning free! Or something like that, it’s up to you and what you want to do. An early bird/new customer discount is also always a good idea. You can think up of a dozen ways to attract new customers, short of physically attacking them on the street while waving a brochure.

You can offer a lower rate for a cleaning membership for the first three months. Remember that discounts and promotions are also great for regulars! They’ll love that you think of them as well and give them special benefits.

Also, once you have a customer that’s no excuse to start slacking off with your marketing and advertising. These are truly effective ways to bring in and build new customers for you services. Remember that your personal touch also counts. A polite, courteous business owner will always get more business than a grumpy one. Polite employees are always a great way to attract business. After all, a smile will always make anyone’s day. Sounds like bad advice? Think about it. If you go to a coffee shop, would you rather have the smiling person take your order or the one who looks like she’s gonna hack a surprise into your cup?

Green cleaning isn’t a word that most people know, but it’s easy to recognize. Once the word green was only for hippies and environmental activists. It seemed like a far-off idea, something that you didn’t have to consider. Now, because of documentaries like An Inconvenient Truth and factors like a rising concern over the effects of pollution on our future, going green is a valid concern for most Americans. From green bags to green clothes, to buying energy saving light bulbs or even a simple thing like recycling, everyone is going natural. It’s only logical that people would want their homes cleaned in the same way as well. But not everyone has time to keep their homes clean, especially naturally.

So why can’t you be the one to fill that need? A green cleaning or natural cleaning business can be your ticket into the vast and lucrative cleaning industry. People have cleaned using natural means for ages, you don’t need toxic chemical solvents and solutions to achieve a sparkling clean for your customers. You’ll be earning money from your business and you’ll be contributing to saving the planet too.

If you remember how your mom or grandmother used to clean windows using the old vinegar and water trick, that’s one of the things you can use for your natural cleaning business. Clean wood and antique furniture using natural things like beeswax. There are so many methods that humans have used over time to clean without resorting to chemicals you’ll be surprised why no one’s ever thought of it before! You don’t need to be knowledgeable about this—simple research and our website will help you turn this idea into a tidy profit that will make your life easier. There will always be homes to clean as long as people live in them and offices to clean as long as people need to work.

So, if you’re concerned about our impact on the environment or want to find a different way to create a business, then running a natural cleaning business could be your ticket into the world of entrepreneurship. Your knowledge of green cleaning, old cleaning techniques or old school solutions can easily translate into thousands of dollars. This will also save you with start up costs—no need to invest in costly chemicals. Using natural materials and natural methods of cleaning can be as effective as expensive chemical solutions. Green cleaning, because of its nature, is also toxin free and allergen free. This is a great service for people who are allergic or sensitive to irritants found in most cleaning chemicals.

The simple difference is that you will be using natural, reusable products to clean the residences or offices that you will cater to. Your cleaning business will be instantly recognizable. You’ll still be running a cleaning business, just one that won’t pollute the environment. A natural cleaning business can become the business for you!
