Things you need to know
The time to hire employees is when your upstart cleaning business shows some growth. The thing is if you are going to post ads, you must be very careful about where to post these. In finding and hiring the right people for your cleaning business, you must know all the right steps to take and do all the right things to do.

Posting an ad in the local broadsheet would be a nice way to start in looking for the right employees. When you post an ad in the newspaper, you can expect a positive response from the readers who are on the lookout for a job.

Another effective and useful way of hiring prospective employees is by creating leaflets and posting them in building bulletin boards. In doing this, you have to make you leaflet very attractive to possible readers who might end up applying for the job. The leaflets must also contain important information to job applicants.

Casual conversations can also be a good source of finding job applicants. When you are talking to people, say your family and friends, just simply inform them that your company is in need of people. Give them your card so that if ever they know of interested applicants, they can easily inform you about these people.

If you already have present employees, inform them that the company is presently hiring new employees. To make the pot look more attractive to them, inform them that there are monetary incentives if and when the person they referred to the company gets hired.

What to look for in an applicant
When you are on the lookout for the best job applicants, you have to do your best in doing a check on them. The characteristics would be the best parameter in hiring a job applicant or not. In your own opinion, you have some characteristics that a job applicant must have for this person to get hired in your cleaning business.

Though these characteristics are all based on your choice, there are two characteristics that you must not overlook. These characteristics are . . .

1. Self-confidence. When a job applicant comes for the interview and appears to show a lot of self-confidence, this will certainly play a big role on your impression of that person. A very confident man or woman also projects a positive of herself or himself. These types of job applicants will definitely make a longing impression on you. Be warned though that these people may look confident, the acid test will come when they get hired on a probationary period.

2. Appearance. Appearance should always be a characteristic in the person you are going to hire. If that person is a man, he does not need to look like James Bond or if it is a woman, she does not have to be drop dead gorgeous. That person simply has to be clean, neat and presentable.

When you are facilitating an interview with an applicant, you have to know what are the questions that you need to ask that will draw out all the information that you need regarding that person.

The Applicant’s Personality
A good sense of humour is a must in an applicant. This does not simply cracking up jokes but the applicant must always look at the bright side of life. The applicant must always put up a smile. The applicant must also be someone who can work with you and the other employees. The fact that the employee you are going to hire must feel at ease with the present employees of the company will make everything and everyone feel better.

There are just some of the characteristics of what you should be looking for in a new employee that you need to hire on your cleaning business.

Training Matters
Fact is there will be a lot of handling of chemicals in running a cleaning company. Now before you let your new employees handle any of these chemicals, you will have to inform them of the steps in how to handle these chemicals. For this, you will have to provide them data containing the safety details and information regarding how to handle these chemicals. After giving them the information regarding the safety details, next you will have to allot time and money to train them on this.

The proper and right training is the responsibility of the company and must be given to all the employees who are new to the company. The two most important things when you give out training programs for your new employees are that the training must be both helpful and informative. And for you to come up with an effective training program, you have to carefully plan the training program.

You have to plan way ahead regarding the lessons that your new employees need to learn. One effective way of doing this is to author some company writings that will prove very useful to the new employees. The amount of chemicals that you are going to discuss maybe mind boggling so it will be a big help of you place them in categories like, sink cleaners, disinfectants, window cleaners, furniture cleaners, metal polishers etc. Each of these categories can be discussed in its whole. This will make it easier for the new employees to ingest all the lessons they are being taught. Additional information can be provided for those chemicals that need to be discussed deeply.

All these lessons about the cleaning business and the data regarding safe handling of chemicals must all be encoded and printed out so that all of the new employees will have their own copies and this will be very instrumental especially when to go out on a job in a client’s house. If you are discussing these chemicals with the new employees, you have to make sure that you label these chemicals properly as this strep will make it easier for the new employees to identify the chemicals. This will lessen the possibility of confusion from happening. Provide them also with a company dictionary where the terms that the company uses are listed down with their corresponding meanings.
