A cleaning business that runs successfully will definitely be rewarding for its owner.  Aside from earning profits, the owner also gets to be self-employed, meaning no supervisors to answer to, except himself.

Nonetheless, before you can start any business, you need to have, first and foremost, the heart for it.  There are a million stories about people who have the entrepreneurial skills and visions but could not go past the initial stage because of the wearisome tasks involved in it.  It is a good thing that there is a lot of advice available on how to start up your own cleaning business, if you only have the time to look for it.

Is it the business that you want?

This is the first question to ask yourself.  Although there are many benefits to starting up your own cleaning service, the fact remains that it is a blue collar business and not something that is sophisticated.

Is this the business that you can do?

Assess your skills and see if it will match what is needed for this industry. Although it is a business that will not require a lot mental exertion, it does necessitate exemplary people skills for you to gain the trust of clients.  Since the cleaning business is in the service industry, you will need to establish a trusting relationship with your market.  Pus you need to be an able business manager.

Which clientele would you want to service?

A cleaning business can offer its services to different sectors.  You can choose to offer cleaning services for just carpets or windows, or you can choose to clean homes and whole offices.  You can offer services to individuals, or you can clean for other businesses.  For individual clients, you can provide carpet, or window cleaning, and day maid services.  For the commercial market, you can provide other additional janitorial services.

Will you be able to afford it?

For you to legally operate, you will need proper registration, and to have a market, you will need some sort of advertising.  Those two are the main costs.  For the equipment, you can actually start cleaning with a borrowed vacuum cleaner.

Will they be able to afford you?

Decide on how much you will charge your customers.  To have a career idea of how much your cleaning fee will be, look into the yellow pages and other cleaning business ads.  Try to get the average price so that you are sure to not shortchange yourself and your customers.

What will you be calling your business?

Start playing with business names that would appeal to you and to your market.  You can ask for approval from your friends and family too.  Make sure the name has quick recall, something like “Shiny Windows Clean-Up Shindig.”

Last but not the least, go and register your business, start practicing on your family, and your neighbors, and earn bucks while whistling.
