Cleaning services are now noticeably becoming more and more popular. A lot of industrial companies have seen the convenience brought about by employing cleaning services. They all vary from small jobs like the removal of dust on tables and furniture’s to big jobs such as carpet vacuuming and the scrubbing clean of tiles in the restroom.

Therefore, it will not be so shocking if you suddenly decide of creating your very own cleaning service. Most companies will compare your janitorial or cleaning services to the other cleaning services available. But as long as you give it your all and do your best service as well as if you can conceive of a novel idea to make your services interesting, you won’t have much difficulty competing with the competition in the market.

Most companies often hire their own regular cleaning contractor so at the beginning, you may find it quite hard to make a name for yourself and land some clients. Big companies often hire already well-known and established cleaning services that they have been used to. But this is not a big problem if you can give them updated, modern, and top of the line cleaning services and facilities. This will blow away your competition easily.

It is an important fact to note that in this kind of business, giving it your best service is still the biggest point of comparison and factor when trying to outwit your competitors. Companies that have had a bad experience with some cleaning service will most likely not trust you at first. But by showing them your exemplary cleaning skills and good attitude, you can change their minds regarding cleaning services. You must be full of ideas to attract the attention of would-be customers. Do some market research and hand out surveys, as well as researching your competition to further improve their weaknesses can be to your advantage.

Like any other enterprise, cleaning services are a business and a good customer relation is a vey important factor for any money making venture. Albeit traditional and old school, this is still one of the most effective means that you must focus on. To improve your customer relationship, you can ask for any comments and suggestions from them.

By getting them intensive trainings and seminars for you staff is a great way to enhance their performance as well as give them tips in handling conversations with clients. It will also update them with the newest modalities in doing their jobs. Like any customer, rude customer service people and staff is one way to lose a loyal customer. Combining all of these that they learned in the seminar and putting them in practice will boost the confidence level of your workers thus increasing their morale.

Another way to further better your business is to make sure that all your supplies and solutions are used up before the expiry date arrives. All of your tools, equipment, and gadgets should also be well kept and maintained.

The cleaning service is a profession; it is not just merely a business in which you will earn money. You will learn a lot of things as time goes by as all of the good and bad experiences will help you grow as an entrepreneur and as a person.

You want to put up a cleaning service as a business. As we all know, getting into any business is a tricky decision. There are a lot of risks involved and you should be ready to face the consequences, whether good or bad. Of course, the main goal of entrepreneurs is to gain profit. It does not mean that money will instantly come once a business is set up. In order to ensure that profit will constantly flow, there are certain factors which must be taken into consideration.

Business ethics is a big issue for people nowadays. In the past, there have been so many scandals linked to different people. Everybody is concerned about these things, whether entrepreneurs or customers. For them it is all about professionalism. There are certain things which must be done right and some things which are not acceptable when done wrong. There are certain procedures which must be cleared to avoid conflict. All in all, you just basically have to ensure your customers that you are a trusted cleaning service.

The first thing that must be considered is advertising. Come on, let people know that you have a business. Who would hire you if no one really knew that you have a business? Advertising must be as simple as telling the people around you. You can post ads, flyers, and even ask for personal referrals. Posting ads in the newspaper, magazines and even on the internet will be of big help. Posting flyers for the friendly neighbors or just pedestrians. You can also make deals when you ask for referrals, you may give the people extra services if they meet a certain number of referrals. No matter what you choose to do, it is important to be straight to the point. Give the people what you have advertised, do not give false hopes as well as empty promises. Remember, the output of all your efforts will still be the basis of a job well done..

When you have established a name for your cleaning business, it is best to gain the trust of your customers. Make your lasting impression on them. You do not need to charge them high. You can compare prices with competitors and work everything out, just give a price for services which is enough. In connection to this, you need to give them their money’s worth. Cleaning services are a big deal for most people, of course, they want things to cleaned, and by clean, they really mean clean.

Next, the employees and cleaning staff must be professionally trained when it comes to business. They must know the right way of cleaning things. They need to be efficient in their cleaning job. Not only does the trust of customers come from the efficiency of their cleaning job, but also the security that they bring. Most people entrust cleaning to cleaning services. Big businesses usually have their offices cleaned at night, where there are no people. Of course, employees leave some things in the office which are important to them. There are also times when people working there would accidentally leave jewellery, money, cheques, and other things that may tempt the cleaners. It must be made sure that the staff will not do anything to these things, or better yet report that there are things found which may be lost. When it comes to the own house, you might want to have your house cleaned when you are alone. You must need to secure all of your money, jewellery, house appliances and other things which are precious to you.

As an owner of a cleaning business, you need to let your staff know which things must be done especially legalities. It would be better if there is a written manual about business ethics. Things that are right or wrong. Ethics policies are helpful when it comes to these things. Make sure that they know all about this upon starting a job. So if your staff is left alone in a cleaning job and he is stuck in a situation where he should decide what to do, he will know the right thing to do. This will lessen trouble when dealing with clients. Having a certain principle when it comes to business really help, where policies will revolve around this. Honesty is really encouraged. You need to know what happened when they do cleaning, if they destroyed something or so. Even if something like this would happen, you can just fix it with the client. Through this, you may let your clients know that honesty is your top priority. Dignity of the business as well as the employees will be saved.

This business also requires minimal investments so investing in the right materials, equipment and cleaning stuff is recommended. You need to ensure that a clean workplace is what your customers get from all your services. Most people are demanding when it comes to cleanliness since this is something that people find to be really important. You need to prove the worth of your business. Your services must be kept constant, the performance of your staff must be controlled. The customers must gain satisfaction with each service that you provide.

In order for you to have a successful business, not only should you focus on earning so much. There are a lot of things that you can do to ensure you earnings to keep coming. All in all, you also need to build a good relationship with your clients. It is more important to gather loyal customers to keep income to constantly flow rather than clients who ask for a one-time service.

Realistic goals must be set when it comes to business. Along with realistic goals, comes realistic strategies in order to have a successful business. Starting small will then lead to bigger things. Remember that with any business, patience is needed. Success does not come overnight, and you must put into mind that you must be ready to face whatever happens in your business.

Providing an exceptional customer service, not just a good customer service, is what will make a cleaning business a successful venture.

The first step in giving an excellent customer satisfaction is to make sure you are there for your clients. Your clients should be able to reach you at all times (during normal business hours) either by phone or by email. Be sure to answer all your clients’ correspondents as prompt a possible.

If you will be out of your office, have your calls forwarded to your cell phone. It would be very annoying for your clients if they will keep calling you but they keep on getting voicemail messages and you didn’t return their call. They understand that you can’t be physically sit by your phone at all times, but they do expect a call back shortly after they leave a message. Check your messages several times a day to make sure you return all important calls. Remember that not returning your clients’ calls might prompt them to go somewhere else.

Another important aspect of giving an excellent customer is listening to your clients’ complaints. If they call to complain about something that wasn’t cleaned properly, let them know that you will make a remedy to the problem. Go back to the home and re-clean the part of the house that the client isn’t happy with or send one of your employees to do the cleaning. This will send a message to your client that their satisfaction is your utmost concern.

When arriving at a client’s home, make sure to greet them and smile to them. Always smile as you walk through their door. Make sure you introduce yourself and do a little talk with the customer to know what they expect from you after your work is done. Show interest in how your client is doing. Don’t show that you are fatigued and that you are in a bad mood. You are there as a professional cleaner, you need to behave and prepare yourself as a professional.

Ask your clients what they want you to do, and how they want the house to look like after doing your work. They will let you know how they want their home cleaned and what cleaning tasks you need to prioritize.

Try to include a few extra services on your cleaning routine that other services may charge for (changing sheets, dusting blinds, cleaning glass doors are a few examples)

Here is a list of little extras you can provide for your clients:

If you will still have time, do a few extra things for your clients while cleaning. Most often, it is the small things that mean so much to clients.

If the clients have pets, then bring treats for their pets. Your clients would really appreciate that fact that you also care about their pets.

Bring fresh flower or gift certificate for your new clients. A nice floral arrangement only cost around $9 in your local grocery.

During special occasions like Christmas and Thanksgiving, leave a coupon for a free extra service or a discount on their next cleaning.

Always be professional in everything you do. When answering the phone, introduce your company, your name and ask for the business. Example: “Smith’s Personal Cleaning, This is Tommy, how can I help you?”
This also applies when replying to email. Be polite, friendly and professional. Always include your signature in emails.

When giving estimates to potential clients, be prepared. Always bring your business card, list of services you provide for different types of cleanings, references and your residential cleaning checklist.

Be confident. Clients love dealing with confident people. It makes them feel secured and relieves them from worries.

How Can You Really Give Your Customers What They Want
Every business has a targeted marketplace. In every marketplace, there are a lot of competitors. So what spells the difference of success and failure in any business? Why do some businesses drive customers away, while others cannot make any sales at all?

The problem is that most of us business people simply cannot comprehend the reasons why these people really need our products! We tend to think that our products already make themselves appealing to the prospective buyers by their main presence in the market. This kind of thinking tends to create a resistance from our customers- now they are looking for ways to avoid buying our product and they are getting further and further away from being sold on the prospect.

The second part of the problem is that we are constantly giving more focus on pitching for sales. We are being bombarded with pitching wherever we go; from our first breakfast radio show to the last commercial break at night- it looks like the world is trying to outdo each other in vying for customer attention. The problem is the customer is not really looking for the best product with the most advertisements.

As an example, let’s consider selling a weight loss treatment. Just how easy is it to sell weight loss program? Everyone you meet- even those who are in their ideal weight- seems to be concerned about their weight, their health and how they look. So does this mean that you need to just produce a catalogue and they’ll be handling over their credit card in no time?

Not quite. The problem is that hamburger and fried chicken are simply more appealing than a healthy alternative. So the killer pitch you have, proclaiming about the amount of nutrition in your products, how much healthier they can get and how much saving they can get on these products- is really going nowhere, because all the time, they are thinking how much better a hamburger tastes.

The good news though is that you know that your customers still has a need. In this case, they still have a problem of being overweight. So why don’t you connect to that person directly, without even mentioning that you have a product to sell. You can give them some exercises and diet ideas, as well as some healthy ways to achieve their desired bodies. Let them know that you understand their situation and you can help them. Now when they think they have already achieve the result that they want with your help, and they want to continue that weight loss path- they will give you a call for you already established yourself as an expect in the field of losing weight.

This is really simple. The reason why most people miss it is because we are all about instant gratification from online marketing. True-there are many online marketers who can just jump in and make money right away. But the best chance for an average person in this industry is to start building relationships with prospective customers-help them with problems and then selling comes next. If you will just build your business this way, you can have an incredible strong foundation for financial freedom in the future.

You have been in the cleaning business industry for quite some time now. Can you still remember the time when you first started your cleaning business? All you wanted was to earn a little extra profit and provide your family with a better life. Now that you have carved your niche in the business and have established your customers and clients, you might want to consider offering them with more services.

Of course, it follows that as you expand your business and hire more employees, your company grows simultaneously. Because of this growth, your expenses automatically increase as well. At the beginning of your business, you have probably tried offering your services for a relatively smaller price because your primarily wanted to establish your clients and have them accustomed with the services that you are offering. Now is probably the best time for you to gradually increase the prices for your services.

You have to keep in mind that increasing the prices of your services is common among all other types of businesses. When your expenses double or triple, you also have to adjust your prices in order to keep up and continue to generate revenue for your business.

However, before increasing the prices of your services, you need to consider how much you are currently charging for the different types of services you are offering. It isn’t wise to increase prices abruptly because your customers might not like the idea so it would be good to gradually increase the prices of your services.

One of the most important things you need to take into consideration before you actually increase your prices is your customer’s current satisfaction rate. If they are satisfied with your services, you can gradually increase your price. However, if they aren’t might as well consider an increase in price some other time. Because not only will you lose your clients, you might even be branded corrupt or taking advantage.

Once you are certain that now is the perfect time for an increase in the prices of your services, properly inform your customers about it by sending them a letter, informing them personally whenever you visit their place for cleaning or you could send out flyers and notices. By now, you have probably established a good working relationship with your clients that you can be transparent enough in letting them know the reasons for your price increase. If they are satisfied with your services, you clients will most likely never complain about it.

Just see to it that when you increase your prices, you also increase and improve the quality of your work. This way your clients will still be satisfied and gratified even if they have to pay a little bit more. business.

Increasing the price of your services is necessary at some point. Of course you need to earn an income and not simply provide free or probono services to your customers and clients.

Even if most of your customers will find the price increase reasonable, don’t feel bad if there are some customers who will decide to beg off your services after you inform them of your price increase. Bear in mind that just like you, your customers are also looking for better options. If they couldn’t find any other cleaning business as good as yours, you are almost certain to have them again in no time.

There are two main classifications in the cleaning service industry; that is the commercial cleaning service and the residential cleaning service. Although both are of course involved in cleaning and organizing spaces, the main difference lies in the clientele to be served. A commercial cleaning service, also known as janitorial services, looks for customers in the business end of the spectrum such as office spaces, apartment buildings, warehouses, hospitals, and schools. A residential cleaning service or a maid service on the other hand services individual home owners. Although, cleaning services also include other more specialized fields such as window washing and carpet cleaning.

If you are a person who has a knack for cleaning, and you want to start a business of your own, then choosing between the two main cleaning ventures would also have other factors to look into.

1.	How big do you want to be?
A maid service is definitely the smaller venture. You could keep to clients around your neighborhood and run your business on your own. It would be a rare occurrence that you would need to hire extra help since you will be handling just the scheduling and the cleaning and nothing else. However, if you are considering having a bigger business, you may choose to start a commercial cleaning ser vice. Although you can still keep a janitorial business small and run it by yourself, bigger cleaning contracts might force you to hire at least one extra help to accommodate all your cleaning schedules and to provide a sustainable service to your customers.

2.	How much are you willing to put up as capital?
Every business would need a capital, whether it is a few dollars or hundreds of thousands. A cleaning business would figure in the lower end but still, you have to check how much you can allocate for things such as advertisements and tools and equipment. If you have a bit to spend, for a maid service, you can start printing out brochures and flyers and give them out to neighbors. For a commercial cleaning business, you can start printing out proposals and sending them out to possible clients. Both types of cleaning service should also stock up on things such as rags and cleaning solutions and some cleaning equipment like a vacuum just in case your client does not have one of their own.

3.	What type of hours do you plan to have?
A maid service will only require you to work normal hours, meaning in the mornings and afternoons. A commercial cleaning service however might mean that you need to work after office hours. Although if you plan to keep your day job and work for extra money then this might be good opportunity. You can work in your office from eight till five then scout for clients to service afterwards. A cleaning job takes about two to four hours which means you would not be too exhausted since you will have time to rest. If you plan on quitting your day job, then you can start with a maid services company and expand from there.

The cleaning service industry is one of the areas in business that has kept on expanding over the recent years. Suffice to say that more and more companies are realizing the convenience and simplicity outsourced cleaning crews offer. From the littlest details involved in dusting furniture, to the more tedious work of cleaning carpets and upholstery, a commercial janitorial service is truly beneficial.

It is no surprise that you would want to create a cleaning service of your own. There are few other businesses that can compare to the ease of establishing your janitorial service. Nevertheless, just like any other foray into the service industry, you will need to think of ways to create an image for your cleaning business that differentiates it from all the other competitors.

One way to do this is to set up an unforgettable image and reputation for your cleaning business. Your start up company would definitely have a difficult time competing with older and more well-known janitorial services around. However, what you lack in years could be regarded as strength if you focus on what can revolutionize the cleaning industry. Instead of focusing on the reasons why you can give the same quality of service as the older cleaning companies, look for a way to make your cleaning business different. If you research on the cleaning companies in your locality, you are likely to find an area that you can improve on, either technology-wise or service-wise.

Since your business is in the industry of providing service to your clients, you should keep some traditional practices such as excellent customer service. It would be even better if you could improve on it. Instead of the usual customer-initiated feedback for instance, you can keep your customers happier by providing a more regular avenue for assessments and recommendations. You can schedule monthly meetings with your client to ensure that everything is running smoothly.

Have all your cleaning staff train or learn the proper way to handle and talk to clients. One of the easiest ways to lose regulars and potential customers is by having a rude or offensive cleaner.

Make sure that the equipment and tools, and even the cleaning solutions that you use are up to date and well-maintained. Companies everywhere do like a show of expertise in any area that involves their spaces; and a run-down, outdated vacuum could cost you one customer less.

Highlight facts that could put your company and your crew in a good light. One time training for the different areas of cleaning may be a huge come-on to potential customers. Additionally, you can create more confidence in your clients if you have re-training seminars and conferences for all your staff. Treat cleaning as a profession, and know that every profession is a continuous learning process. Skills are learned and improved through both theories and practice. Besides, with the many new things that one can learn about cleaning spaces, you can be assured that not one of you and your cleaning crew can say that you know everything there is to know about cleaning.

The cleaning industry is a growing business and it is not just because people are too lazy to clean up their own spaces, or that they can afford to pay others to do household chores. The cleaning service industry is boosted by a lot of other factors such as companies turning to outsourcing janitorial services to lower business expenditures, and households gearing towards double income status more and more each day.

For the typical home, gone are the days when the wife gets to stay home and take care of the household while the husband earns money. Because of the current economic changes, the society’s empowerment of women, and the high divorce rates, maid services have bloomed in each and every city and town. Nobody has time for cleaning! People have to drive to work, finish deadlines and stay up late, take care of finances; and all of these things add up to pure exhaustion. No one wants to have to worry about cleaning up when all they want to do is to put up their feet and doze off in front of the TV. Even young professionals have a need for day maids since young adults now move out of their parents’ house as soon as they can afford to rent out a place of their own. These young workers might need to have a part time job aside from their regular job, or to put in more hours so they can climb up the corporate ladder. They would not have time to worry about dusting, and mopping, and vacuuming; they just would not have
the energy to!

Parents with young kids also have a need for a cleaning service. Even if the mom or the dad stays home to look after the children, a lot of extra help would be needed for them to be able to keep a tidy house. Just imagine having to take care of a baby, a toddler, and a pre-schooler all at the same time. Even if the kids go off to day care everyday, the mess they leave behind, and the mess that they will create as soon as they get home is really something to contend with. To add to that, the parent would need to cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, and school snacks, drive the kids to and from daycare, and so on and so forth. If they have to clean their homes too, then their days will never end!

If you think that you have a knack for cleaning and supervising it, then building a cleaning service business may be right for you. There are men and women out there who get a kick out of de-cluttering people’s spaces and you may be one of them. You can opt to have a janitorial service and choose clients in the corporate world, or you can choose to start a maid service, focusing primarily on cleaning houses. Both of these types of cleaning service are fulfilling financially.

The cleaning service industry is one of the easiest industries to get into; aside from the fact that building your own cleaning service does not require a big capital, the skills needed just include a penchant for cleaning and organizing, scheduling, and a bit of marketing and accounting. Nevertheless, since cleaning requires you or your hired employees to handle cleaning solutions and perform physical tasks, you will need to have some form of insurance to cover any liabilities you or your employees may incur.

Although you may be sure that you are trustworthy and dependable, accidents do happen and if you do not carry insurance, you may find yourself in a financial crisis even before you get the profits from your cleaning business. A house is a prime spot for unwanted incidents like falling off a ladder or getting burned by a cleaning solution. Instead of paying these on your own, get an insurer to cover medical expenses. Additionally, keep in mind that you may, in one of your cleaning appointments, damage your client’s property. Liability insurance ensures that you can pay for the ruined object without having to burn through your savings account.

Your hired employee is another matter. Sometimes, even if you conduct through background checks, you may get a person with a not so immaculate intention. If something gets stolen from your client’s home or office, and if it is proven that your cleaning crew is responsible for the item at the time of theft, then your cleaning business is liable to pay for it. Typically, you can waive the insurance of your other cleaners if they have insurance of their own. This only happens if they work for you part-time and are not on your payroll. However, if they are your direct report, then they are also your responsibility.

Most clients would understandably be very concerned when having other people in their homes or spaces. Of course, they have the right to be worried since you are handling their things. To make them more comfortable with you, it is much better that you inform them that you carry insurance for yourself and all other cleaning staff under you. This will surely impress them and allow them to relax, knowing that their homes, and everything else inside it, are in good and dependable hands.

Liability insurance depends on your chosen insurance company and your locality. Normally, insurance premiums are paid either quarterly or annually. As your business grows and you hire extra help, your insurance premiums go up. Although it may seem to be added financial baggage, note that it is well worth the money. Bonds can be bought from the insurance companies too and your responsibility is to renew it annually.

Being a responsible business owner includes recognizing your obligations toward your employees and your clients. Since you decided to be in the cleaning industry, you need to arm yourself for any possibilities of accidents that can harm you or your staff and your clients.

One the best choices to try for starting your own business is the commercial cleaning industry. This will only require you little cash and even without cleaning experience except maybe for a bit of vacuuming. You can actually earn more profit compared to having two or three jobs with salaries.

One thing that you have to do to is to make sure that before starting janitorial services, you are already equipped with a fool proof guideline that you can stick to. Look for start up guides, financial advice and marketing plants that are easily accessible through the internet. Some at no cost at all, and some coming from more reliable ones and completely detailed might cost you few dollars.

Start up guides comes with a detailed explanation of the requirements needed to be fulfilled such has how to get licenses and insurance down to the equipment that you will need to start with. There will also be advice on whether you should hire an army of employees and these guides will also teach you the basics of getting clients to come knocking on your office doors. Take time to study these guides and you will soon earn your dollars fast and easy.

Online articles are not the only guides your can find for your cleaning business. Videos are also available to better show you’re the ins and outs of the cleaning industry. Or better yet, you can arm yourself with other specialized knowledge such as how to clean hard wood, carpets, tiles and windows. Each of these can easily be research on the internet.

Another important area that you should focus on is marketing. You can’t really rely on good ol’ word of mouth to do much for your business. Janitorial cleaning service business is more diverse and will require a more professional approach in terms of getting visibility. Competition is also at a higher level so you’ll need to create strategies to get your business noticed and establish a steady clientele.

That is why, aside from a clear proposal of your business’ vision statements, plans and goals, you also need to come up with your own market study. This will most probably be the lifeline of your business success so you should not ignore it.

Typically, a marketing plan is consists of your target market – this could easily show the potential clients that you can tap at the start and as you expand. You will generally classify the market into the kinds of businesses that needs janitorial cleaning services in your area such as offices, schools, hospitals and etc. You will need to establish if the need for janitorial services has flourished over the years, and which type of businesses has needed cleaning services more.

A study on what these businesses look for in a cleaning service may also be included in a marketing plan. What they normally require and whether they would want a service that comes at a competitive price, with very professional and reliable service from the management and staff.

The Janitorial cleaning business can be started right away once you decide that the cleaning industry is for you. Why would you want to clean offices for a living?

1. This industry has a very low start up expense. All you need is setting up your business with a license, fill out the proper business forms, and the insurance you need to get. Aside from that, you will just need to clear out a little space in your home to act as your command center and start stocking up your cleaning supplies.

2. The cleaning business provides fast profits. Whether or not you quit your current job, you will be raking in profits as soon as you get your first cleaning appointment. You can start cleaning as a part time job and work after office for three to four hours. You could charge $30 for an hour of cleaning thus earning an extra$120 for that day alone. Imagine the profits to be gained if you go full time. You will have a fat paycheck everyday!

3. The janitorial cleaning business you run will give you financial freedom. Gone are the days that you wait for the payroll from your office work to come in. You can have cash everyday as long as you work. This gives you the opportunity to manage your finances better, not worrying about late fees for credit card repayments and amortization payments that never meet the due date.

4. A commercial cleaning gig will let you be the boss of yourself. You do not have to report to anyone and you can start managing your own schedule. If you go full time into the business, you can start planning and saving up enough for your next family vacation.

5. You can start anytime and anyway you want. You can choose to have a daytime job while working cleaning jobs after office or during the weekends. You can go into cleaning full time and start working the day after you quit your current employment. You ca choose to start at home and direct your cleaning clients through your own home phone, or you can look into the possibility of renting out a small space for your office and equipment. An office would mean you are getting extra hands with you managing the office on your own!

The marketing strategies in a cleaning industry are fairly easy to handle too. For starters, you can start calling up potential clients in your vicinity. Your customer base can come from business offices, schools, hospital, stores, and warehouses. Some rental offices also need cleaning services for the spaces they rent out. You can also send out proposals to your friends and family and former employers; they could hire you directly and refer you to other establishments that need a cleaning service. The tactic is simple, pitch to them how important cleanliness is and how hiring you could benefit their company cost-wise too. Once you get a steady base of client, your regular cleaning jobs are assured and you will probably be thinking of expanding your cleaning business in no time.
