Since labor is an intangible commodity, one cannot really decide upon the pricing of the cost of labor hastily. But despite of that, labor pricing can still be understood even one step at a time, and so is the case for designating fees for cleaning services.

There are two main classifications in the cleaning service industry; that is the commercial cleaning service and the residential cleaning service. Although both are of course involved in cleaning and organizing spaces, the main difference lies in the clientele to be served. A commercial cleaning service, also known as janitorial services, looks for customers in the business end of the spectrum such as office spaces, apartment buildings, warehouses, hospitals, and schools. A residential cleaning service or a maid service on the other hand services individual home owners. Although, cleaning services also include other more specialized fields such as window washing and carpet cleaning.

If you are a person with a college degree or even a couple of years in college, the cleaning business may not be the area you would be looking forward to work in. This is primarily because of the bad publicity that blue collar jobs have received ever since. People tend to look at service providing as an inferior job and treat it as something only people with nothing good to offer should enter. But that would be discriminatory and only people without real values would say that cleaning is a lowly job. Nevertheless, you can use this to your advantage as a lot of people avoid cleaning tasks themselves, even in their own homes.
