In having a cleaning service business, it is not sufficient to use the talents you have learned in cleaning your own house, or the methods passed on to you by your parents or family. It is very important for you to learn how the professionals do the job, and be able to teach it to your existing staff and future employees. This will not only impress your clients, it will also give you a sense of security because you know you are doing things correctly. Consequently, knowing how to clean windows properly plays a huge role in the success of any cleaning service business.

In the same way that the eyes are the window to one’s soul, the window reflects the personality and traits of a homeowner. Clean windows contribute greatly to the overall appearance of a house. Thus, it is important to clean them in the right manner. At this time, conventional ways of cleaning those windows no longer prove to be efficient. Most often than not, using spray cleaners, or old towels, along with newspapers only cause dirt build-up in the edges of your window, and make them look spotty. In addition, overly rubbed glass causes static electricity which draws in more dirt.

Always have the appropriate tools when cleaning windows. These include the following: fabric strip applicator, squeegee, and chamois, hand held sponges, rags, and cleaning solution. For the cleaning mixture, simply mix some dish washing liquid with a pail of temperate water. Make sure that the solution does not have too much foam.

To clean the window, start by applying the cleaning solution with the strip applicator. Wipe the glass from peak to base using the squeegee, and after every stroke, clean the edge of the squeegee with a clean rag. If you hear a squeaking sound while you’re wiping the windowpane with the squeegee, this means that you need to put a bit added soap in your cleaning solution. Clean the edges of the window with a chamois dampened with the cleaning solution and wrap up by rubbing the panes with a rag soaked in the same solution. Make sure to wring the rag firmly and remove all the excess solution, before using it to wipe the panes clean.

Bear in mind that professional window cleaning, you will encounter different types and sizes of windows and should be ready for varying scenarios. For example, standard sized squeegees may not be able to fit multi-paned windows. Accordingly, it would be wise to have different kinds of squeegees or better yet a complete set of squeegees. You can also advise the client to purchase a squeegee which is appropriate for the extent of their window. Some stores offer custom-fit squeegees or you can simply cut the squeegee to the size you want.

In cleaning windows, it is also important for you to have a scheme (ex. Top to bottom, left to right, etc.). This will allow you to remember which windowpane you have previously cleaned.

To get rid of tough stains on the window, use a cleaning powder with oxalic acid. Apply this after you have cleaned the window following the procedures mentioned above, and wash the windows again afterwards.
